What is C.F.D.I.P.P all about? There is a large group of Dog Owners that wish to build a Dog Park in Purcell Park, We want your support in this venture and we have the interest of the community in mind. We would like your input on this park and with the support of you we can get this done. The facts are clear, there is no liability involved and the process of keeping the park clean is a issue that has been addressed at the C.F.D.I.P.P meetings. The facts are clear we have to follow in the foot steps of other dog parks around Virginia as well as the country. This website will offer information on future events in the park, meetings and fund raisers for the park so visit us again in a few weeks when the site is fully completed. ISSUES Many on the Park Board have Poop-Phobia On Nov, 20th we went to the Parks and Recreation Board with a solid plan( More than the Skate Board Park had) and we battled for the rights to give the residents and dogs of Harrisonburg a Dog Park.....And we are pleased to say we got the first step approved but it did not come without debate. A few members on the board still have issues of the " Dog Poop" and who will clean it up, we told them that we believed that they were under estimating the dog owners of Harrisonburg and that most responsible dog owners would clean up after their pets..some might not but the majority will but the most resistance came from board member Tim Lacey who owns dog's and has a fenced yard, the issue is some are not as well off as Mr. Lacey might be and can't afford a fenced yard and this is a way to give everyone a place to take dogs but yet again the legal issues came up and again we set them down as the pet owner in the long run is responsible for their own pet inside the park and will be held accountable for their pets actions. We hope that this board will continue on with allowing us to voice our views and opinions for the good of the people and dogs of Harrisonburg. |
